Political circles in Pristina are increasingly speculating that Duda Balje could support the re-election of Vjosa Osmani in the upcoming presidential vote. Although no official confirmation has been made, sources within the Assembly suggest that discussions are ongoing and that Balje’s vote could prove significant in a tight parliamentary arithmetic.
Balje, who represents the Bosniak community, has often positioned herself as a pragmatic lawmaker willing to negotiate on key institutional matters. Her potential support for Osmani is reportedly linked to broader guarantees concerning minority representation, policy priorities, and commitments related to community rights. However, she has so far avoided making a public declaration.
The presidential election process in Kosovo requires at least 80 MPs present in the first two rounds, with 80 votes needed to elect the president. In the third round, 61 votes are sufficient. In such a delicate balance, every single vote carries weight — particularly from smaller parliamentary groups and minority representatives.
If Balje ultimately decides to back Osmani, it could strengthen the chances of securing the required majority without triggering prolonged political uncertainty. Until an official statement is issued, however, her final decision remains one of the key unanswered questions ahead of the vote.
