Two LDK MPs Oppose Osmani for President, Ukë Rugova Takes on Envoy Role to Persuade Them

Tensions are rising within the Lidhja Demokratike e Kosovës (LDK) as two of its Members of Parliament have reportedly expressed opposition to supporting Vjosa Osmani for President. The internal disagreement has prompted party leadership to intensify efforts to secure unity ahead of a potential vote in the Assembly.

According to party sources, concerns raised by the two MPs revolve around political positioning and strategic calculations within the broader parliamentary landscape. While LDK has publicly aimed to maintain coherence in its institutional approach, the divergence of views has exposed fractures that could complicate the voting process.

In response, Ukë Rugova has reportedly been entrusted with a delicate mission: to act as an emissary and engage directly with the dissenting lawmakers. His role is to persuade them to align with the party’s official stance and prevent internal divisions from weakening LDK’s political leverage.

Party officials emphasize that unity remains essential during this sensitive political moment. With the presidency holding a key constitutional and symbolic role, any internal split could have wider implications not only for LDK but also for the broader balance of power in Kosovo’s institutions.
